PowerPoint: – Evaluating Public Education Messages Aimed At Responding to and Monitoring Social Interactive Technology (Smartphones) among Young Drivers

H1
"It was our hypothesis was that the intention to monitor or read, or to respond to social interactive technology would be lower for the intervention groups. That’s to say, the groups which were exposed to the campaign message would change in their intention to repeat the action as compared to the control group. Behaviour includes read-monitor device behaviour and respond to device behaviour. Measurement was made based on the acceptance of the campaign message using a Likert scale.
H2
Our second hypothesis proposed that for men, messages that elicited positive emotions for them would be more persuasive than those that elicited negative ones (positively gain-framed vs. negatively loss-framed).
[hit play]
So two scales measured acceptance, both were used after the presentation of the message
this is the Likert scale... one which adapts a technique for scaling responses in survey research, and one which is widely used in the filed of study of psychological measurement.
Five questionnaire items of the survey measured message rejection... again adapted from previous studies – most notably and recently the work of Lewis et al., (2016) – which formed a reliable scale for both monitoring and reading.

The section for Perceived Response efficacy was made up of three items, which were measured on the same scale.
Again they were adapted from previous studies.
The emotions of the participants were elicited upon viewing, at the completion, of the public education message, again adapted from previous studies.

Participants were asked...
This was an indicator of whether manipulation of underlying beliefs and behaviours had actually occurred or not.
Participants in the control group did not see or read anything about a public education message.
which takes us to our results...."
